Meet Our Orthodontists in Grand Haven
Dr. Jason Charnley earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in health sciences from Kalamazoo College in 2002. He went on to pursue dentistry at the University of Michigan and earned his Master of Science degree from the same institution.
He opened his practice in 2009 and has been creating confident smiles ever since.
Dr. Charnley is passionate about fostering personal relationships with his patients and their families. He’s committed to educating them over the course of their treatment and equipping each patient with lasting knowledge about orthodontic care.
Dr. Charnley is a board-certified orthodontist and is proud to be affiliated with the AAO, ABO, ADA, GLAO, MAO, MDA, and the Muskegon District Dental Society.
Dr. Charnley is married to his college sweetheart, Erin, who is a dentist. Together, they have two sons, Carter and Cole, and one daughter, Livia. When he’s not moving teeth, he enjoys golfing and downhill skiing with his family.
Dr. Katherine Beard, is a Michigan native born in the rural town of Portland. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in general biology, Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, and Master of Science degree in orthodontics, all at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Beard feels that orthodontics combines her passion of helping others while allowing her to cultivate meaningful relationships. She considers it an immense honor to create beautiful smiles and strives to treat each patient as if they were a member of her own family. Dr. Beard is also deeply committed to community service and has spent time offering free dental care to youth in need.
Because of her desire to offer the highest standard of care to each patient, Dr. Beard is board certified and proud to be affiliated with several professional organizations: the AAO, ADA, ABO, MDA, and the Muskegon District Dental Society.
Dr. Beard is married to her high school sweetheart, Ben, and together they have three young boys, Theodore, Franklin, and Abraham. As a family, they enjoy taking road trips and spending time outdoors.
Dr. Michael Hoy returned home to Michigan after years of education and training around the country. Originally from South Lyon, he earned a dual bachelor’s degree in biology and Spanish from Adrian College. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of
Kentucky and his Master of Science in orthodontics from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Dr. Hoy is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through personalized orthodontic care. His approach is rooted in commitment to excellence, compassion, and service. Giving back to the community has always been a guiding value in both his personal and professional life.
Dr. Hoy is married to Alexandria, a pediatric dentist, and they have a son. As animal lovers, they have five animals to complete their household, with two dogs and three cats. Outside the office, you can find him golfing, watching hockey, reading, or enjoying the outdoors with his family.
