Meet Our Orthodontists in Westerville
Dr. Simon has been fascinated with teeth for as long as he can remember—his interest began after a root canal at just two years old! While most kids might have sworn off the dentist forever, he became completely fascinated by dentistry. His favorite book was Bugs Bunny Goes to the Dentist, and nearly every science fair project became another chance to learn more about teeth.
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Dr. Simon moved to West Palm Beach, Florida with his family when he was five. Growing up, he played baseball, golf and tennis and eventually found his passion in competitive swimming. He went on to be a four-year letterman at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Simon’s dream of becoming an orthodontist truly took shape after watching an interview with tennis champion Ivan Lendl. Despite his incredible success on the court, Lendl admitted he rarely smiled because he was embarrassed by his teeth. That moment stuck with Dr. Simon and inspired a lifelong mission: helping people feel confident sharing their smiles.
Eager to begin creating beautiful smiles, he started building his practice in Wellington, Florida while finishing his residency in Boston. In July 2000, just 10 days after graduation, his very first patients walked through the door.
In 2020, after more than two decades treating patients, Dr. Simon sold his practice and spent the next five years continuing to care for patients and their smiles alongside a trusted colleague in Delray Beach. Now, after nearly 26 years in orthodontics, he’s excited to begin a new chapter with Smile Doctors in Columbus, bringing not only his expertise in straightening teeth but also his love for singing. He is an avid (read: terrible) karaoke singer, and no audience is too big or too small. Beware, there are often bad dance moves included.
Family is at the heart of everything Dr. Simon does. He has been married to his wife, Erika, since 1998, and their daughter Lexi is a proud alum of THE Ohio State University (she even works there now!). Dr. Simon and family also love to travel. Most recently, they journeyed to Antarctica, checking off their 7th continent!
Thanks to Lexi, Dr. Simon and Erika have joined Buckeye Nation. Even their beagle, Sprinkles (named after their favorite cupcake shop), gets in on the fun by wearing her Buckeye jersey for every game. They’re eager for this new opportunity to be able to cheer on the Buckeyes in person.
