Dr. R. Todd Gililland earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mississippi and his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. He further specialized in cosmetic and implant dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed his orthodontic residency at New York University.

Dr. Gililland’s journey into orthodontics began during his freshman year of college when he was inspired by a conversation with Dr. Bishop, the founder of the practice he would one day join. He has been practicing since 2002 and currently serves six of the seven practice locations.

Dr. Gililland is known for his patient-centric approach. He not only aims to build long-term relationships with his patients but also provide them with a compassionate and humorous experience.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Gililland enjoys duck hunting, fishing, golf, and SEC football. He is married to his wife, Tiffany, and together they have three children.

Dr. Chew graduated from the Mayo Clinic for her orthodontic training, where she was accepted as the only dentist in the nation for their three-year program. She is a board-certified orthodontist through the American Board of Orthodontics, and her education has allowed her to treat a multitude of orthodontic problems.

As a military spouse, Dr. Chew has traveled all around the world and enjoys serving in the community in which she lives no matter the location. She is passionate about international relations and has traveled to places such as Kenya and Rwanda to help train local dentists in orthodontics.

Dr. Chew is married to her best friend from dental school, Matt, now a dentist at Columbus Air Force Base, and together they have three children. During her free time, Dr. Chew enjoys CrossFit and being outside, rain or shine, melting or freezing!

Dr. Li-Ping Chew is grateful and excited to be with Smile Doctors — and looks forward to giving her patients the smile they deserve!

Dr. Shawn P. O’Bannon’s journey into orthodontics stems from his childhood experience with buck teeth, for which he recalls being teased and self-conscious. After treatment, his self-confidence soared, and it inspired him to dedicate his career to providing the same life-changing experience for others.

Dr. O’Bannon earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mississippi, followed by a Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, and further specialized with a certificate in orthodontics from Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He began his dental career practicing general dentistry in 1999 and has been specializing in orthodontics since 2005.

Outside of the office, Dr. O’Bannon is an avid sports fan, a passionate fisherman, and an all-around outdoor enthusiast. He is also incredibly proud of his service to the United States Navy, where he rose through the ranks from an enlisted member to an officer.
