Dr. David L. Jones was born and raised in Martinsville, Virginia, where he graduated as the “Senior Scholar-Athlete” from Carlisle School in 2001. During college at the University of Virginia, he played on the club golf team and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Biology in 2005.

Dr. Jones attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry in Richmond. While there, he served for four years as the Student Coordinator for the Virginia Dental Missions of Mercy projects, which provide free dental care to our underserved populations in Virginia. Dr. Jones graduated at the top of his class as a member of the prestigious OKU National Dental Honor Society.

After completing his dental degree, Dr. Jones continued his education at the Medical College of Virginia in the VCU Department of Orthodontics – one of the most respected orthodontic programs in the nation. In residency, he treated over 200 patients, giving him extensive experience with braces, Invisalign® treatment, and difficult cases requiring collaboration with other dentists and dental specialists. Upon completion of these additional two years of specialized post-graduate training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, he received his Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) along with his Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Jones was then asked to join the private practice of his orthodontic professor in Richmond as an associate, where he practiced for two years. While there, he acquired tremendous knowledge in clinical efficiency for adult and adolescent orthodontic treatments, aesthetic orthodontic treatments including Invisalign for teens and adults, clear braces, and interdisciplinary restorative cases.

Dr. Jones and his wife, Justine, relocated to Roanoke in the fall of 2014 when they acquired Dr. McCorkle’s practice. They are so happy to be back in Southern Virginia in a family-friendly community to raise their sons, Lawson and Owen. In their free time they enjoy exploring the Roanoke Valley, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Nicole DeShon grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2007. She completed her dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. DeShon also attended West Virginia University and earned her M.S. in Orthodontics and a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2014. While at WVU, Dr. DeShon enjoyed volunteering in her community and traveling to further her education through advanced training courses. Her favorite part of residency was learning from her co-residents and mentors.

For the past seven years, Dr. DeShon has been practicing in Martinsville, Virginia, with Dr. David C. Jones. While in private practice she has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, including reaching Invisalign® platinum status. Dr. DeShon takes pride in letting her patients know that, in the majority of cases, she can accomplish their goals using any of the orthodontic appliances they prefer — metal braces, clear braces, Invisalign, and more. Dr. DeShon believes her role as an orthodontist is to make her patients her highest priority, and she strives to make each treatment decision as if she were making it for a member of her own family. Dr. DeShon’s favorite aspect of her job is forming long-term relationships with her patients and their families.

Dr. DeShon enjoys spending time with her husband and their girls, Kensington and Sloane. She also loves traveling, especially to the lake or the beach.

Dr. Stapleton’s interest in orthodontics began with her own treatment when she was ten years old. She attributes her orthodontic treatment to helping her achieve the improved self-esteem and overall well-being that allowed her to pursue her dreams. She takes pride in offering this same life-changing treatment to her patients and enjoys helping her patients find a smile they are confident sharing with the world.

Dr. Stapleton was born and raised in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, where she learned the values of community and hard work. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia in biology and religious studies and her dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. She graduated from Tufts School of Dental Medicine with her certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics in 2022. Dr. Stapleton received her board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics in 2023 and is constantly furthering her knowledge of orthodontics with her current continuing education.

Outside of the office, Dr. Stapleton enjoys many pastimes, including spending time with her husband, family, and friends, traveling, reading nonfiction and history, crafting, dancing with U Can Dance LLC, CrossFit, and being outdoors.
