Zach Casagrande
Dr. Zach Casagrande

A Northern Virginia native, Dr. Zach Casagrande grew up in Reston, Virginia. Dr. Casagrande founded Northern Virginia Orthodontics in 2008 with a vision to build the premier orthodontic practice in the Northern Virginia area. Since then, he has opened four more NVO locations. NVO was named the #1 Invisalign provider in North America in 2019 after successfully treating more Invisalign patients than any other practice in the country- and the same distinction has been awarded every year since.

He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, magna cum laude, from the Medical College of Virginia (MCV).
In addition to his dental degree, Dr. Casagrande also earned a Masters of Science and an orthodontic degree from the Medical College of Virginia. During his studies at MCV, Dr. Casagrande received grants from Pfizer for work on his master’s thesis. He remains part of the Medical College of Virginia as a professor in the Department of Orthodontics, where he teaches orthodontic residents to become orthodontists. Dr. Casagrande is also one of only 15 recognized Invisalign Master Faculty national speakers for Align Technologies and lectures worldwide, speaking to doctors on Align’s technological advancements and treatment techniques.

Dr. Casagrande and the team at NVO are passionate in the fight against pediatric cancer and have donated over $1.5 million dollars to local charities, Children’s National Hospital, and Inova Schar Cancer Institute. In 2017, Dr. C started the NVO Foundation, a 501(c)(3) which is dedicated to funding various cancer causes in the DC area.

Dr. Casagrande and his family are residents of Leesburg, VA. He enjoys spending time with his wife Gena and their three children, traveling, and following all DC sports. He a big fan of University of Arizona baseball, where his son currently plays. As a Level 1 Sommelier, Dr. Casagrande also enjoys discovering new wines and winemaking for his own label “Grande.”

Dr. Jessica Itani

Dr. Itani grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania with parents, three younger brothers and a family dog.  She always knew she wanted to work in healthcare because she wanted to do something that made a positive impact on people’s lives. During a summer in college, Dr. Itani got jobs at a few healthcare offices, including one at the office of a pediatric dentist and orthodontist. After one day on the job, she knew orthodontics was the field for her! She loves the relationships you form with patients and knew that she would be able to apply her artistic nature, and attention to detail to truly change people’s lives.

Dr. Itani attended Georgetown University where she majored in Human Science and Cognitive Science. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors and as salutatorian of her class.  Dr. Itani was also inducted into the Gamma Pi Delta Honor Society, Gorgas Odontological Honorary Society, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

During her orthodontic residency at the University of Maryland, she completed a degree in Biomedical Sciences as well and was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, an invitation-only honor society that requires nomination approval by a chapter. Not only did she have leadership involvement in the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), she was elected Chief Resident of her orthodontic residency two years in a row. The first resident in the history of the program to do so.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Outside of the practice, you will most likely find Dr. Itani on the Peloton or at the gym, trying out a new recipe, having a game night with friends, or going for a run or bike ride in DC. She also enjoys eating at new restaurants and especially loves finding unique, little places with specialty coffee or fancy cocktails.
Dr. Itani is also passionate about volunteering, especially with children. She has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Ronald McDonald House Charities, numerous health fairs, and multiple Mission of Mercy events which provides free dental services to underserved populations.

Samaneh Mojarrad
Dr. Samaneh Mojarrad

Dr. Samaneh Mojarrad is a Board Certified Orthodontist and native of McLean, Virginia. Dr. Mojarrad received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, Dr.Mojarrad graduated with High Honors and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society for her excellence in academics and leadership, an honor that is given to the top students of each graduating class.

Dr. Mojarrad received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, Dr. Mojarrad graduated with high honors and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society for her excellence in academics and leadership, an honor only given to the top students of each graduating class.

Dr. Mojarrad’s love for art and passion to provide patients with a healthy beautiful smile led her to continue her dental training at the Ivy League school, University of Pennsylvania where she received her Masters of Science in Oral Biology and certificate in orthodontics. Dr.Mojarrad’s hard work and dedication to clinical excellence led her to win the “Eugene L. Gottlieb JCO Student of the Year” award in a nation-wide competition upon graduating in 2018. While completing her Masters studies,
Dr.Mojarrad conducted research under the supervision of Dr. Songtao Shi, a pioneer in mesenchymal stem cells and a highly esteemed researcher. Dr.Mojarrad’s research in the field of dental mesenchymal stem cells, was chosen as the most outstanding research thesis in 2019 and was awarded “The William S. Kress Research Award”.

Outside the practice, you will most likely find Dr. Mojarrad taking pilates classes or going for her 5k walks while listening to her favorite podcasts. She also loves exploring new restaurants with friends and finding cozy cafes to read a book or write in her journal. When at home, she likes trying out healthy baking recipes, practicing calligraphy, and drawing.

Danielle Robb
Dr. Danielle Robb

A native of Fairfax City, Dr. Robb attended W.T. Woddson High School. She went on to attend the University of Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating summa cum laude. Dr. Robb was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society, in which she was given the society’s highest honor, the Kramer award, for her potential for advancement of the dental profession and characteristics of leadership, service, and integrity. She received her Master of Science degree and certificate in orthodontics from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Outside of the practice, Dr. Robb proudly served as the President of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists for the 2021-2022 year. She also enjoys hiking, biking, taking a new class at the gym, trying out new restaurants, and volunteering with local animal rescue groups.

Elvi Barcoma
Dr. Elvi Barcoma

Dr. Elvi Barcoma became interested in orthodontics as a teenager after seeing the positive impact it made on her brother’s self-esteem. During a summer break while in college, she asked her own orthodontist in Virginia Beach if she could work at her practice in order to learn more about the profession. In a few short months, her passion for orthodontics grew stronger than ever, and she made the leap to pursue orthodontics as a career.

After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she matriculated at the University of Virginia where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After college she went on to attend dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While in dental school, Dr. Barcoma was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society for her excellence in academics and leadership, an honor only given to the top students of each graduating class. After dental school, she completed her orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Virginia where she earned her orthodontic certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry.

Dr. Barcoma feels strongly about advancing the orthodontic profession through scientific research and evidence-based treatment. She has published two papers in a major orthodontic journal, The Angle Orthodontist, and is currently working on a third publication.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE & IN THE COMMUNITY

In her spare time, Dr. Barcoma enjoys painting, running, baking, crafting, traveling, and singing. She enjoys donating her time to many activities in the community. One of the most meaningful projects she’s been a part of is the Virginia Mission of Mercy Project. It involves dental professionals and volunteers coming together to provide free dental care to underserved areas in the United States. Dr. Barcoma has also volunteered for the Miles for Smiles 5K Run, the Richmond Special Olympics, the American Cancer Association, and for the American Heart Association.
