After practicing orthodontics in the Kansas City area, I knew it was time for a change. That’s why I moved to Northern Virginia to partner with my longtime friend, Dr. Ellis. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

As an orthodontist and member of your community, I’m here to partner with you in your smile. I know that orthodontic care can be confusing, and that’s why I take the time to listen to your questions, give you the answers you deserve, and provide clarity on your course of treatment.

I enjoy working with families, and nothing makes me happier than seeing the growth in confidence that comes with a winning smile. When I see you smiling and laughing, I know I’ve done my part. And there’s no better feeling in the world. I am well-trained in modern orthodontic methods and philosophies for both children and adults. As the mother of three active children, I always treat each patient as I would my own family.

I’m a certified orthodontic specialist. After eight years of private orthodontic practice in the Kansas City area, I moved to the Virginia area in 2012. I have always been active in the dental community, as past president of the Greater Kansas City Orthodontic Society and past president of the Midwest Tweed Study Club. As the previous owner of a start-up practice in Kansas City, my expertise and knowledge in the practice of orthodontics are invaluable.

Orthodontics has been a passion and dream of mine since before I was a teen. When I used to visit the orthodontist as a patient, I was fascinated with the concept of moving teeth and creating beautiful smiles. My orthodontist allowed me to hang out in the treatment bay and really see what the field was all about. It was an experience that changed me and created a career path that led me to where I am today.

Being raised in a military family, I understood the concept of hard work, the value of a dollar, and the appreciation for all I had. I bring all of that with me to the way I run my practice today. I make sure to take the time to understand every patient’s needs, answer all of your questions, and create a personalized treatment plan to achieve the smile you deserve. I want every one of my patients to smile with confidence for years to come.

But I don’t stop at your smile. I went through a tough health battle with Obstructive Sleep Apnea that changed me as a clinician, and it motivated me to go back into training and become a Certified Sleep Medicine Specialist. Having the ability to screen, test, and treat patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea has provided me with a rewarding experience like none other. I can now say that I get to both CHANGE people’s lives with a better smile as well as SAVE AND EXTEND people’s lives with improved sleep, health, and vitality.

I’ve been a practicing specialist in orthodontics since 2005. As the son of a retired Air Force LTC, I spent most of my childhood traveling around the Midwest and East Coast until we settled down in Burke, VA, where I graduated from Lake Braddock High School in 1995.

Since I started practicing, I’ve trained in modern orthodontic technologies, philosophies, and treatment techniques. My extensive training and overall experience have allowed me to provide my patients with the most comprehensive care options.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, Bita, and my two children, Kaitlyn and Austin. I am an avid sports fan. I love to walk and hike, as well as lift weights and spar in Taekwon Do (currently a second-degree black belt). I enjoy reading, painting, boating, and traveling as much as I can.

I am a U.S. Navy veteran who has spent much of my 20 years in the U.S. Navy serving as a general dentist and orthodontist for families around the world!

I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and received my Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Youngstown State University in Ohio. I was awarded a Navy Health Professions Scholarship to attend the University of Michigan Dental School, so I crossed the border (much to the chagrin of my die-hard Ohio fan family members) to receive my doctorate in dental surgery. I received an advanced degree at the Naval Dental Center Southwest, then achieved my orthodontics certification at the Indiana University School of Dentistry.

I traveled the world treating patients during my 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy, including practicing in Okinawa, Japan. I retired from my service in the U.S. Navy, and now I’m looking forward to settling into civilian life with my husband, David, and our two children, Peyton and Dominic. I love traveling, spending time outdoors, snow skiing, swimming, and golfing.

I also love spending time getting to know my patients and I am looking forward to getting to know each of you.
