Meet Our Orthodontists in Austin – Research
Dr. De La Fuente (“Dr. D” to many of his patients and team members) will make you feel right at home with his fun-loving attitude and approachable bedside manner. He is proud to have been part of the Smile Doctors family since 2015, creating beautiful smiles for patients of all ages. Dr. D is all about the patient experience. He values patient comfort, treatment efficiency, and catering to patient preferences such as braces vs. Invisalign®. Dr D has given multiple lectures on the treatment of complex cases with both braces and Invisalign. He is a “Diamond Top 1%” provider of Invisalign clear aligners. Dr. D strives to bring the most advanced technology and expertise to the practice to create beautify healthy smiles. He is known for his efficient and effective approach to seamlessly align your teeth in the shortest time possible.
In his youth in Mexico City, he grew up helping out at his dad’s orthodontic office after school and was inspired by seeing the impact his dad made in patients’ lives. He and his family moved to San Antonio, TX, before his freshman year of high school. After high school, Dr. D attended UTSA where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Biology. Dr D then graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA), where he obtained his dental degree and was inducted into the Ommicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honors Society. He stayed at UTHSCSA for another 3 years in the Orthodontic Specialty Program, obtaining his Orthodontic Diplomate and a Master’s in Dental Science.
When he’s not nerding out over teeth, Dr. D enjoys spending time with his out-of-his-league wife, Jen, and their two adorable (yet evil) cats. He loves all types of board sports (wakeboarding, snowboarding, kiteboarding, taking the National Dental Boards…wait, what?) and it eats him up inside that Jen can ski faster than he snowboards. Dr. D also loves giving back to the community through volunteering at Manos de Cristo Dental clinic, where he provides dental care for those in need.
